Useful measurement list

A dash = 1/8 teaspoon
3 teaspoons = 1 Tablespoon
4 Tablespoons = 1/4 cup
5 Tablespoons + 1 teaspoon = 1/3 cup
8 Tablespoons = 1/2 cup
16 Tablespoons = 1 cup
 
2 Tablespoons = 1 liquid ounce
8 ounces = 1 cup
2 cups = 1 pint
4 cups = 1 quart
4 quarts = 1 gallon
8 quarts = 1 peck
4 pecks = 1 bushel

Emergency Substitutions

1 Tablespoon vinegar (or lemon juice) plus sweet milk = 1 cup sour milk (also substitutes for buttermilk)

1/2 cup evaporated milk and 1/2 cup water = 1 cup milk

1 Tablespoon cornstarch = 2 Tablespoons flour

5/8 teaspoon cream of tartar plus 1/4 teaspoon baking soda = 1 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup whole milk = 1 cup skim milk + 2 Tablespoons butter

1 ounce unsweetened chocolate = 3 Tablespoons cocoa powder + 1 Tablespoon butter or margarine
