8 - 10 apples -- peeled, cored, sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup oatmeal (old fashioned style)
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/3 cup butter (or margarine), softened
2 Tablespoons peanut butter
Fill crockpot about 3/4 full of apple slices.
In a bowl, combine brown sugar, whole wheat flour, oats, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well.
Mix in the soft butter and peanut butter.
Sprinkle mixture over the apples in the crockpot. Cover and cook on low 5-6 hours. Serve warm.
Good with milk or ice cream on top.
This recipe was inspired by one of Chet Day's great Crockpot recipes.
Hint:
On warm days when we want to use our crockpot, but don't want the extra heat inside the motorhome, we set the crockpot outside next to the rig on a TV tray to cook away. The aromas come wafting in the window, letting us know in advance how great dinner will be.
