Amish Dutch Apple Pie

Preheat oven to 375*F

Prepare single pie crust in a 9" to 10 ", pie plate.

6 - 8 apples
3 - 4 tablepoons lemon juice

Streusel:
1/3 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Peel, core and slice the apples.

Place in a bowl and sprinkle with the lemon juice.

Mix all dry ingredients, except the walnuts.

Cut in butter with a pastry blender.

Add walnuts.

Add 1/3 - 1/2 mixture to the apples, stirring to coat.

Place the apples in pie crust.

Sprinkle rest of streusel on top.

Put foil around crust.

Bake in oven for 40 minutes.

Remove foil and bake a further 20 minutes.

Should be bubbly.

Serve with fresh dairy cream or hot egg custard.
