Just finished a baby blanket! I'll be sending it to Cangleska, Inc., a shelter for battered women and their children, on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota on our next post office stop.
Usually, I gravitate toward smaller projects like socks or mittens so finishing this blanket was an accomplishment. This time it didn't end up in the UFO box!
The stitch pattern was one I've used for place-mats and such. Easy enough not to need directions propped up in front of me and interesting enough to stave off boredom. And it is made on the diagonal so gauge is not really an issue. You just keep knitting in pattern until the side is as long as you want it to be and then you start decreasing blocks until you are at the opposite corner.
Here are some pithy directions for this blanket.
