We're heading toward New Mexico tomorrow. That makes today a Stow Day. Back in the "old days" with Dancer I, there wasn't much room to carry extra stuff so stowing was a faster deal. With the current rig, stowing means using our imagination.
Our living room (aka "lounge area" according to the RV manufacturer) is our office. And a full one it is!. We manage to squeeze in Will's desk (specially made for him by his talented brother, Enos.)
That cool little two-legged table over at the side was also made by Enos. It fits neatly over the engine hump in the cab and is a marvelous addition to the office. But, both items have to be stowed safely during travel so they don't bounce about.
My "desk" is a lapboard on my recliner ("the perfect chair") that is easy enough to stow. But all the file boxes have to be tucked away somewhere; I am keeper of all the accounting and reference materials that no business manages to avoid. On my wish-list is a rather grand filing cabinet, on wheels, that will keep me totally organized with everything at my fingertips. I just haven't yet figured where it could be stowed during travel.
The knitting projects have to be tucked away. The dishes done and put away. The coffee pot, etc. that sit about on the counter and table, all those little items one leaves about the bedroom- books, brushes, extra computer, sewing machine- have to go back where they live safely during transit.
You may be getting ahold of the reason we lately have been avoiding "going to town". Moving across country takes the same amount of preparation.
As Will says- it used to be stow and go. Now it is stow and stow and stow and go.
We are looking forward to being out on the road, again. And we shall be often on the road this spring as we make the 2000 mile trek back to Indiana to visit our dear son and his bride-to-be. The wedding is in June!
