We are bugging out of here on the 8th (Monday). Some of our neighbors have been drifting out, one by one. Time to move on... You can just see the itchy feet syndrome spread thru the park. "So, when are you taking off?" is what we hear everywhere. See? I'm not the only one!
Going to Phoenix first to take care of business. Probably hang there for a month, I imagine. Then we will wander slowly, according to the weather, up to South Dakota. William needs a new drivers license. We did get our new SD tags for Dancer. The IN plates expired 2/29.
After SD, we think we are going to the Oregon coast for the summer months. I'm looking forward to the ocean.
Today, was Leah's spring trimming day. She looked rather like a woolie lamb before I shaved her. I had let her hair grow all winter. It was a 5 hour project all told!
She has decided to forgive me already. Baths and such are not to her liking...
Temps were in the 80's today, btw. Spring has sprung in Arizona.
Tomorrow we leave this park and wander an hour north to Casa Grande to check out a park for a possible stay next winter. Then to Phoenix or something.
It has been a Murphy kind of week so far. And it is only Tuesday. Left Tucson yesterday and on the way out of town we had a tire blow-out on Interstate 10. Always such a fun experience. This one took the panel that covers the back wheel-well area. Got someone out to change the tire, thanks to Roadside Assistance, and got into Casa Grande in time to buy a new tire. If our count is correct, all the tires but one are now new. Found a place to dry-dock for the night before it got dark.
This morning I called the insurance company to see if they would pay to have the rig repaired. They will, so after playing phone tag for hours, finally got to Mesa to their repair people and got them to order the part. 3 weeks till it comes in. We were going to stay around here that long, anyway. Also need to stop and see a friend and meet with our tax accountant.
We are all exhausted. It is hot here, by our standards. The locals are just starting to put away their long underwear.
Spending tonight and tomorrow (rest day) in a KOA in Apache Junction. Then will find a place to hunker down for a few weeks..
When we had the blow-out yesterday, an ambulance happened to be behind us. They stopped behind us and when Will climbed out of the cab, one of the young men came up and said "Good save!" He reminded me of Todd- same age and build and so clean cut looking. He said they "had run interference for us" with their lights flashing, etc. Sweet.
We are in an Escapee Park called North Ranch. About an hour north of Phoenix. Somewhat higher elevation than Phoenix and about 10 degrees cooler this week. The view of the mountains is lovely. But we are out of cell phone range.
