Drove further than we usually do. Felt really good to be on the road again! One of the joys of being self-contained in our little motorhome is we can stop in unusual places and enjoy the backcountry while we travel about.
This night, we really scored a lovely spot. Nearly missed the sign off the highway but when we got back in here, we were the only folks camping for the night. The lake, a resevoir, is very low. Can't decide if it is because of the drought or if they are draining this section for a reason.

Leah gets to be off leash in a secluded place like this. Makes her very happy :)
Cranes and ducks and other assorted critters keep us company. Finding this spot for an overnite is such lovely seredipity- it is this that keeps me living on the road.
We'll be here until tomorrow afternoon. We had (another) blowout today. This time we were in cellphone range so I called our Roadside Service. Before I was done with the converstion with them, a tow truck pulled up behind us. They were even one of the companies on our Roadside Insurance's list. So we got the approval within about 5 minutes. No cost to us to have the guy change the tire. It was one of the duallys- an inside tire, this time.
So we got to town and no one in town has the right tire but one outfit can get one by tomorrow afternoon. With our track record, we were not willing to leave town without a spare. We are sitting in Walmart parking lot for the nite. Nice to be a turtle and carry our house with us.
That makes 4 of the 7 tires new. Only three more to go.
We were in need of a place to dump Dancer's waste tanks - a little chore that homes without wheels usually don't have to perform. Didn't want to arrive at Harvey's house with full tanks.
Reading the Free Campground book located a town that has a dump station. The entry sign for the town said they never met a stranger. I believe it. It's small but they go out of the way to accomodate folks.
At the gas station we were pointed toward the dumping area. And we noticed a rather attractive rest area nearby. Inquiry assured us that "folks stay there all the time." So we joined the folks.
By evening there were probably a dozen RV's and semi-trucks hunkered down for the night.
A pleasant evening was had by all.
