Red Rock RV Park, Island Park, Idaho
We landed here on Sunday after the weeklong reunion in Montana at Will's brother's place. Had a great time but I am exhausted.
We are now tucked into the corner of Idaho bordering Montana and Wyoming. Very near Yellowstone Park. In a high bowl surrounded by forested mountains. Warm but not as hot as Montana was! I'm planning on knitting this week- my favorite "centering" activity.
Been out to do some "sight seeing" and shopping. When we were heading back here, we noticed how strange the clouds were... then realized there is a forest fire on the other side of the mountain. It was an amazing sight at sunset- the sun behind the smoke turned the sun firey red and the clouds deep red too. Quite spooky.
So far no smoke here- we shall see what the days bring.
We had originally planned to move on today but extended our stay here for another week.
Will is under some stress with his work and wants to catch up. As if he ever could catch up. And it is fairly cool here during the day. Nights are chilly and good sleeping weather :) Even have the heater out!
Everywhere I want to go in Wyoming has forest fires. The fire that is near here is still smoking and our valley is covered with a constant haze. Fortunately we don't suffer from asthma!
In a week we will see which way we want to go. We will have to travel faster than we had intended. Generally we don't drive more than 2 or 3 hours a day.
We took most of yesterday off! Wow, write that one on your calendar! We were out of milk so it was the reason for getting on the road. While we were out, we drove up to the Mesa Falls area. Real old fashioned water falls! Took a walk along the trail (with Leah- Misser doesn't do walks) to see the Upper Falls up close and personal. Beautiful! Then we drove to the overlook area to see the Lower Falls which is as close to them as you can get.
Lovely day driving thru some beautiful country. We could see the Teton Mountains in the distance. The are a magnificent range. We won't be going there this year but will be driving thru Yellowstone when we leave here. (Current plans subject to change.)
We are in Yellowstone tonite- Takes a long time to get around this park. We had thought to head up toward Bozeman but we are camping in the park instead.
Tomorrow we head toward I90 and east.
