The price of gas is looming large. Will and I are in discussions of whether to make the trip to Indiana this spring or not. Nearly 1800 miles!
We drove up to Phoenix on Saturday to do some shopping and then on to Lake Pleasant, north of the city and stayed till Sunday afternoon. It was quite a treat. 80 degrees with a nice breeze. We did "shoreline camping" which meant parking anywhere off one of the established dirt tracks around the lake. We were on a hill and had a beautiful view of the lake, sail boats, mountains on one side of the rig and desert complete with Saguaro cactus on the other. Those are the moments we cherish. There were other people around but we couldn't really "see" them :)
Leah took exception to sailboats on the lake - I don't know why- and growled at them quite a bit until she decided they weren't going away. Both critters enjoyed the visit as did Will and I. Came back to the resort last night and are back in the routine again. One more month here, I think.
I sat outside and made a basket yesterday. Been carrying the stuff around so thought maybe I could get rid of it. The reed dries out very fast here in the desert- I had to re-wet it frequently!
It is also getting quite warm- 80+ degrees each afternoon- so we will be heading for higher ground in about 3 weeks.
We may not go as far as Wyoming this summer. New Mexico has some high elevations and dry climes so we might stay in this part of the country. We shall see.
Winds coming up- stow the canopy and outdoor furniture!
Decided, for the second week in a row, not to take the weekend off for a "get away". Knowing we will be leaving here in less than 3 weeks kinda takes the edge off the need to be somewhere else. And we both are knee deep in our projects so we will hang here until mid-April.
