Photos from Winter Weekends in the Desert

The roads beckon in the desert...

Roads west
One weekend in February, we followed the road to the AZ border. We slipped over the border near Yuma into California where we discovered this little lake created by backwater from damming the Colorado River. The hills reflect in the still water and sea gulls ponder at the edge. We parked beside the lake for the night. Reflecting lake

Here Mari and Leah stroll beside the water.

In March, we drove north past Phoenix to visit Lake Pleasant Regional Park. 23,662 acres of gorgeous lake and desert. Desert meets Lake

It was a very special treat... 80 degrees with a beautiful breeze. We did "shoreline camping" which meant parking anywhere off one of the established dirt tracks around the lake.

We were on a hill and had a beautiful view of the lake, sail boats, and mountains on one side of the rig and the desert complete with Saguaro cactus on the other.

Those are the moments you hold your breath for in the RV life. There were other people around but we couldn't really "see" them...
