Winter Base and Leah

Got back from Phoenix yesterday. Had a great time and we acquired a new "passenger", as one of our neighbors put it.

While in Phoenix, we visited an animal shelter and adopted a little dog. You can imagine Misser is somewhat miffed but they are ignoring one another rather well so far.

The dog is poodle crossed with something. She is mostly curly white except for gray on her ears and brown spots on her nether region, paws, etc.. We think we will name her Princess Leah as she behaves like such a little princess.

Judy and Jack Vorfeld are the folks we had Turkey Day with- we met Judy online maybe 3 years ago. She is a colleague and client as well as friend. Jack and Judy decided they were going to adopt Will and I into their family :) Judy's son and his wife and 3 dogs came for the turkey feast plus one other friend of Judy's. A boisterous time was had by all! It was really good fun.

My daily schedule has changed since Leah came to live with us... I am up at 7:30 AM, outside, taking a walk. Before coffee. She has me wrapped around her paw :) And we take 4-5 walks a day. I could get skinny at this rate. Ya think?

Hoping that next winter we are able to wander more on BLM land with a satellite dish- our goal for the coming spring. Resort living begins to pale after awhile.

I think I have figured out why it seems like summer or any season except winter here. It is not just the very frequent sunshine or mild temps. It is because the trees don't loose their leaves! Yes, there are trees. People plant them- I think the only indigenous tree I have seen is Palo Verde. But for planting trees, people choose trees that don't "shed". What a concept! The RV park here has two trees planted for every space. I have identified one as the Desert Willow. Still working on finding names for the others.

Played hooky this weekend- took Dancer out just for fun and sightseeing. And parking in Walmart parking lot to kickback and read. Felt like running away from ... ? Hiding out? Anyway, it was fun.

We are back at the Resort and I am counting the days until we can play hooky again.
