Stayed at a pleasant campground near St. Cloud last night. Quiet night but oh the mosquitos this morning! William is getting eaten alive while unhooking the rig this morning. Heading south and away from these critters.
We pushed it rather harder than we usually do yesterday. Drove almost 300 miles. Our usual limit is 200 and we often don't go that far.
Walmart parking lot last night. Never quiet but for a short overnight park, it is very handy. And of course we tend to spend a lot of money at Walmarts.
It was also a chance to give the new inverter a try. The twelve volt outlet in the bedroom needs some investigation as it doesn't have enough power to keep the inverter alarm from blaring. Works well on the outlet from the engine battery. Thankfully it didn't put a dent in the battery either. Engine popped right over this morning.
Stopping at the Wisconsin Dells area this evening. We are so disappointed in the rampant commercialism. One sleazy tourist attraction after another. We sat in the parking lot of the Original Duck Boat Tours deciding if a tour in the rain was worth the 30+ dollars. Decided not, so took off looking for a view of the Dells themselves. Other than a glimpse from the street between the buildings we didn't find one. That is not to say that there isnt one...
Stayed at Mirror Lake State Park last night. We were chagrinned to discover that it was more costly than a private campground with similar hookups. Pretty park but we were bombarded with acorns all evening. The squirrels were using our rig for target practice. Haven't checked yet to see what damage they caused. I think we will avoid oak trees in the autumn from now on.
Today we will drive over to Cambria to see Will's brother and family. We hoped for some sunny weather for picture taking but it is still overcast and rainy. I hear that the weather will clear this weekend.
After Cambria, we head to base in Indiana.
We've been just over two weeks at base camp in Indiana. Weather forecast is for a cold front coming through Sunday or Monday.
A this moment, we are sitting in the parking lot of Grubbs Garage waiting for Dancer's oil and lube appointment. This is the place that gave us the present of a dead mouse last summer. Today they just seem to keep us waiting. Misser is hiding in a cupboard, waiting for the confusion to end.
